Where did February go?

Oh my goodness; It seems like just yesterday it was Christmas & here we are wrapping up February. This month has absolutely flown by.

I'm looking forward to longer days, warmer weather, taking my puppies on walks & fun little weekend trips. I've been looking through our calendar trying to plan a weekend to go back to the Panhandle. I'm dying to go back to the lake house, since we've only been there once.

Life has been pretty dull since Cabo... A lot of playing catch up. We cleaned house, cought up on our DVR'd shows, played with our puppies, nursed my burnt skin back to a normal condition and cought up on rest. Since we didn't get in until 11 PM on Monday and we were both at work at 8:30 AM on Tuesday we had absolutely no recovery time. Again, no complaints!

&&& I love my husband because he's had an awful terrible busy week and he doesn't complain. He even found time to take our puppies to the dog park. What a good "dog dad."

Cabo Wabo

in my stylin' new shades I purchased on the beach

This pic was for my Dad, who insisted on buying Chris this fador(able) before our trip.

We're heeeeereee

&&& Honestly, who drinks a BUD LIGHT in Mexico?? My hubbs

Coffee on the beach. Done & Done.

Ohhh Pineapple & Vodka how I loathe theeeeee

Chris & I were fortunate enough to escape reality for 5 days and travel to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We decided this year for our anniversary (aka Shaniversary) we'd go on a trip. For me the obvious decision was a beach; duh. I think Chris would rather have gone skiing--which would've been fine, but I had my heart set on a beach--&& since I'm the opinionated one I won. We debated back & forth on where to go (Cabo, Cancun, or Playa) and after a while we decided on Cabo. Neither of us had been there, it was all inclusive & the pictures were just gorgeous.

The trip itself was incredible. Our hotel was brand spankin' new and spotless clean. It was right on the beach, had 4 pools, 4 restaurants, room service, & an ocean view. When we arrived they upgraded us to a suite, which had 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. It was totally unnecessary for just the 2 of us, but very cool. We relaxed a lot, I read 2 books (Dear John & Are you there Vodka, it's me Chelsea), got a nice tan, ate good food, explored the town, drank way too much & spent some q.t. with my hubbs.

Can't every day be vacation?

Our 7th Valentines

This was mine and Chris's 7th Valentines Day. Considering we are only 24 years old I think this is pretty rare for couples our age. We did date on and off since we were 13, but we were never "on" on Valentines until our senior year of high school.

Chris is so good at making me feel special on holidays. Over the years I've received "love" gold fish (I wanted love birds, but he knew my parents wouldn't approve), diamond earring, diamond necklace, build a bears, memory cd's, photo montages, and the list goes on. He is GOOD!

I, on the other hand, am not so good. On Valentines day our Junior year of HS Chris invited me to watch him play soccer at Amarillo High. I had every intention of going until my friends decided we should have a "girls night." Girls night trumped the cold, rainy soccer game, soooo I caved and went with the girls to Applebees and a movie. All night I avoided his calls. I was a brat. To top it all off I called him at the end of the night to apologize and ended up leaving him a message that went something like this,

"Hey Chris. It's Shanna. Sorry I couldn't make it to your game. I really wish I could've. I got really caught up with my friends and lost track of time. Maybe next time." This is when I thought I hung up...but I had not... I continued recording on his home answering machine and said "That took all I had to be that nice."

&&& I love my husband because he forgave me for the whole "That took all I had to be that nice" incident (after several months of not speaking).

Winter Wonderland!

This is what it looks like outside our window (Yes, there is only 1 window in the whole building) at work. Who knew this was possible in Dallas??

BIG News: Chris got offered a job...The perfect job. And it's in Amarillo, working for Dean & right out of law school. I feel like a huge weight is lifted off our shoulders. Even if a better offer comes about it is such a relief to have a back up plan. MORE BIG NEWS!! Chris officially made the Dean's list at SMU. Yesterday was just a fabulous day. My heart is overjoyed and I am so thankful for all of our good fortune lately.

&&& I would love my husband even if we had to move to Montana for him to have a job.

Ballin'

Near the end of the evening... fist pump!!

The boys

Symphony Ball was this weekend & man oh man did we have a great time! This year's theme was Rio de Janiero Carnaval, which meant lots of bright fun decor, jugglers, men on stilts, casino games, and samba music!

This year the ball had a casino area with a couple blackjack tables, craps, and roulette. As the night was coming to an end Chris & I had blown through nearly all of our chips so we decided to go "all in" on roulette. I walked up to the table, placed our last chip on "24" (because it's how old we are), and WON. It's 1/1000 odds. We were ecstatic (even though we didn't actually win anything but multiple drawing entries). So when they announced that it was "last call" at the casino tables I tried my hand at roulette once more... and WON! I have played roulette 2 times in my life (both on Saturday) and correctly guessed the number both times. I think it is safe to say that my gambling career peaked on Saturday, hince my official retirement.

Puppies!

My little Oxford is growing like a weed. He is 7 months old and weighs just as much as Ollie. He loves eat, chew on things he shouldn't, eat, bark at our neighbors, eat, eat, & eat... He is the only dog I know who will eat his pills like a treat.
Speaking of Oxford the poor little guy is a cripple. For the past couple of months he's had a limp. After a week or two of seeing him hobble around we took him to our wonderful vet (a.k.a. Dr. Dad) to get an x-ray. We were very worried that he had elbow dyspepsia, but after a couple different x-rays & expert opinions we were overjoyed to find out that there are no issues with his joints. However, we do have mildly crippled 7 month old golden retriever who has to take his meds twice a day. It breaks my heart to see him hurting, but I hope and pray that this is just "growing pains" and nothing life threatening or serious.
Although he is commonly referred to as "Hobbs" and limps around our house all day, he is a happy dog. He has the sweetest disposition & loves Chris, Ollie, & I so much. I love our little "Clarence puppy" & can't imagine our life without him.
&&& I love my husband because he suprirised me with my little baby Ox on my 24th Birthday.
