All of what Dallas has to offer!

I've been looking forward to this weekend for so long. It was so much fun crammed into on weekend, just the way I like it. Plus, it gave me several fun occasions to dress up for.

Friday night we went to Hacienda on Henderson to eat some Mexican food. Chris still doesn't care for the food, but the atmosphere (& the fact that we can walk there) lures him in everytime.

Saturday we went to the Dallas Symphony. For Halloween they were showing the movie Psycho accompanied by the orchestra. It was so cool. Chris & I had never seen Psycho before, so we were shocked at the ending. We are itching to go back to the symphony. I'm thinkin the Christmas Pops Concert is in our near future.

Quarter Century Old

I'm officially 25. I round up to 30. I keep hearing how, "You're a quarter century old" & "A quarter of your life is over." I take issue with both of these statements.

1. Any sentence with the word "century" in it sounds like a history book
2. If a quarter of my life is over you're saying I am going to live to be 100, which would be awesome although highly unrealistic.

25 is an intimidating birthday.

As unexciting as it might be, I did end up enjoying my birthday. Chris went to Amarillo Thursday evening for his interview, leaving me to fly in after work on Friday. Even though I spent my birthday at work and in Dallas alone it was ok since I didn't have to make the horrible 6 hour drive from Dallas to Amarillo. I'll take flying any day.

My flight landed just in time for a wonderful supper at the Amarillo Club. That place holds so many memories for me. It's the first place I met Chris's extended family (at Mitch & Lacey's wedding). It's where I got engaged & it's where we held our wedding reception. We enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal & shut the place down. Seriously, we were the last ones in there.

I got the Michele watch I've been crushing on. I have a feeling it will be one of those "every day essentials" for me. I have the best parents a girl could ask for. For.Real.

The in-laws gift didn't' disappoint either. Anything that comes in a little turquoise box is good in my book.

&&& I love my husband because he remembered the Centinneal Stripe makeup bags I had my eye on at Bendels. He got me 2 pieces for my for my birthday. Just when I think he doesn't listen to me ramble he proves me wrong!

ZaZa & Gaga

Mom & Codi arrived in Dallas around 2 on Wednesday afternoon. I met them at Northpark as soon as I got off work. We shopped around for a couple hours searching for the perfect "Gaga Wear." What is it about Lady Gaga that makes me feel like I need something super funky to wear?? Ok, maybe not this funky.
Codi ended up getting a super cute black short romper at Arden B and snake skin wedges at Steve Madden & I got the French Connection dress I'd been crushing on to go with my Loubs (nickname for my Louboutins). After a night of shopping & PF's (yes, my mother insists we eat at PF Changs every time she comes to Dallas. She loves it) we headed out to Hotel Zaza.
It.was.Amazing.I cannot even describe how cool this hotel was. It's a boutique hotel, so it was really small, but every single detail was fabulous. When you walk in there's this giant chandelier and plush velvet couches. Very chic. I would highly highly highly recommend it.

After a relaxing lunch poolside we headed to the pool for cocktails and play time. I think it was a good thing we were there on a random Thursday afternoon, cause I have a feeling this place could get a little cra-zy, but in a fun way.

The concert itself was incredible. She came on stage around 9 and played until a little after 11, which was great. I got to dance and sing to all the bests. I was amazed at how humble an individual she is. She expressed many times how grateful she is for her fans, and I believe her.

I didn't know that the whole "Monster Ball" theme was because she calls her fans "Little Monsters." I think it's cool. She also has a song called "Paws Up," so a recurring theme throughout the concert was "Get your Paws Up." Her mission was to make her concert fun, and she succeeded.

Other than briefly forgetting she was in Dallas & not Houston (oopsie, Gaga) she was very interactive with the audience. She did, however, go off on LGBT rights for quite a while. Girl loves her some gays.

Not judgin' just sayin'.

Circle of Hoodlums

Last week was Chris's Spring Break, so due to peer pressure I took off work for 2 days and we headed North. (I'm pretty sure I'm going to blow through all of my vacation time before the end of the first quarter) We went to the Panhandle for Thurs-Sat; enjoyed family, the lakehouse, and watched a lot of CHS baseball. It's amazing how much better the lakehouse looks without all of the previous owner's decor (or lack there of). It still has a ways to go, but Mom has done a phenomenal job on the decor thus far.

I am loving the lakehouse; I mean looooving it. I can already see how many memories we will have there over the years. I picture many Thanksgivings, Christmases, my children's birthday parties, and random fun Saturdays skiing... It makes my heart smile when I think of all the fun to be had... Now they've just gotta take the plunge and buy a boat... But not just any boat, a gooooood boat.

Saturday we headed out to Robert Lee; population 804. I rode with momma in the Beamer while Chris, Ollie & Ox followed in the Pathfinder. I was worried/felt bad for Chris deiving alone, but he assured me that he had Pandora and a Diet Coke and would be just fine. When we stopped for gas in Plainview Mom had the brilliant idea to put the top down on the BeamBeam. We agreed that if we did we would have an excuse for our bad hair days. So we did. Fun fun fun! So about the dance; Nena and Grandad have been workin' their booties off planning/hosting this "Circle of Friends" formal dance, so we were obliged to attend. All the Hoodlum cousins were there (minus Codi & Denver... Mr. & Miss too cool). It was actually a huge turnout. They had a live band, catered food, and lots of family to visit with.
The best part of the evening had to be our 1:00 AM family trip to iHop. Yup, even Nena and Grandad. I swear my Uncle Eddie is the funniest person on the planet. He can turn any situation into a funny one. I love that our family will laugh until the wee hours of the morning until our tummies hurt.

&&& I love my husband because he 2 stepped with me all night... even though we are both awful at it.

Ballin'

Near the end of the evening... fist pump!!

The boys

Symphony Ball was this weekend & man oh man did we have a great time! This year's theme was Rio de Janiero Carnaval, which meant lots of bright fun decor, jugglers, men on stilts, casino games, and samba music!

This year the ball had a casino area with a couple blackjack tables, craps, and roulette. As the night was coming to an end Chris & I had blown through nearly all of our chips so we decided to go "all in" on roulette. I walked up to the table, placed our last chip on "24" (because it's how old we are), and WON. It's 1/1000 odds. We were ecstatic (even though we didn't actually win anything but multiple drawing entries). So when they announced that it was "last call" at the casino tables I tried my hand at roulette once more... and WON! I have played roulette 2 times in my life (both on Saturday) and correctly guessed the number both times. I think it is safe to say that my gambling career peaked on Saturday, hince my official retirement.
