Who loves Halloween?

He does! He does!

So last night on The Office Andy & Kevin were conflicted because they weren't sure whether or not they should attend Dan's Halloween party. Kevin said, "It's not like we get invited to many Halloween parties, so we'd really like to go." (paraphrased version). This got me to thinking.... are we total losers since we don't have Halloween plans?

After lying there thinking about it for a couple minutes I asked my level headed husband to weigh in. He responded with, "Babe, we're in Halloween limbo" Halloween limbo: "too old to dress in slutty costumes & too young for kids to dress up & take trick-or-treating." He obviously didn't think it through before he responded with, "Well since we don't have kids or a house so we can hand out candy.... " You see where this was going. Not.so.much, Jones.

&&& I love my husband because he loves Halloween so much. He is 25 & he still gets SO into it.

Why the Neiman Marcus dress department makes me happy

Seriously. It is my "happy place."

I can't pin point what it is that make me love it so much, but I do. I love trying on all the beautiful dresses. I love finding a dress I've been crushing on sale. I love the element of customer service that Neiman Marcus offers (minus the fact that they do not take Visa). I love that all of my shower & honeymoon dresses came for there. I love that mom & I spent a whole afternoon in the Dallas Neiman's dressing room picking out the perfect dresses for all of those events.

With all of the events we have next summer (Chris's graduation, Jones Family Cruise, Europe & Ashlee's wedding festivities) I have a feeling I am going to need an excessive amount of summer dresses. Jackpot!!

I cannot recall the designer of this white dress, but I am love love loving it. I'm hoping to recreate Eva Mendez's Oscars 2009 look by adding turquoise jewelry.

This sassy red & purple number is Phoebe Couture... old faithful for me.

&&& I love my husband because he doesn't necessarily agree with me on the whole "Neimans is fabulous" thing, but he doesn't put up a fight.

With this **Bling** I Thee Wed

My oldest & dearest friend Ashlee is going to be a wifey! Brett flew up to Amarillo on Friday and surprised her with some bling bling.

You know those friends who've just been around forever, through thick & thin? The kind that you can pick right back up with no matter how long it's been. Welp, that's Ashlee. We were besties through junior high and survived several awful breakups with Cole & Travis. We swore to everyone we knew we were twins despite our very apparent different appearances. We both wore matching lime green plaid pants & black fuzzy sweaters during our 7th grade yearbook pictures. Mid 8th grade we created (with 2 other friends) a singing group called "The Ditzy Twits" a Canyon, Texas version of the Dixie Chicks. We had songs entitled "2 Cheese Enchiladas" (to the tune of 2 Pina Coladas), "The Boob Song" & "The Holiday Inn Song." We cheered together all throughout high school & were 2/3 "original cheerleaders" come senior year. We drove around in my car smoking cigars & singing Last Dance with Mary Jane at the top of our lungs. We could, and still can, quote every line to Clueless, 16 Candles, Ferris Beuler's Day Off & many other stupid movies. Did I mention that we are Wayne & Garth? If we were presidents we'd be Babraham Lincoln. When we went to college we discovered that after a couple drinks we are the 2 funniest people you'll ever meet. We can often be found sharing heartfelt memories over beer & cheese fries at Hummer's. Yum.

Back in 2007 when Chris & I were married Ashlee was such a great friend & bridesmaid. I know I can be difficult at times & definitely had a few Bridezilla moments, but Ash stuck it out with me. I remember after the wedding was over, we were home from the honeymoon & everything had died down thinking to myself how lucky I was to have her as a part of my wedding.
So get ready, Mr. Brett Nichols. Come June 25 your world will be forever changed by a wonderfully kindhearted woman.

&&& I love my husband because he had a fabulous proposal for me. I re watched the video of it yesterday at work & cried like a baby in my cube.

HoCo

What I should be doing is driving to Stillwater.
What I am doing is working.
What's wrong with this picture?

I am saddened that we will not be attending OSU's homecoming festivities this weekend. I am sad we will miss walk arounds & seeing all of the house decs. I'm sad we won't get to tailgate with our college friends. I'm sad I won't get to see the orange fountain on library lawn. I'm sad we don't get to watch the Cowboys beat Nebraska in Boone Pickens Stadium.

Kappa/Pike House Dec 2007.

Stillwater--You can bet your booty that we'll be there next year.

Pumpkin'

While I was in Canyon a couple weeks ago Juju & I were feelin' a little crafty, so we painted these pumpkins for outside our front doors. I think they turned out pretty darn cute. They were super easy. I googled "painted pumpkins" and came up with the idea. The checked one was the hardest to paint. Ju suggested that we paint fake pumpkins rather than real ones so that they would last from year to year. Good call.

I've been bitten by the arts & crafts bug & can't stop thinking about more projects I can do around the house. I am itching to make a new fall wreath. Maybe that will be my next weekend project...

&&& I love my husband because he appreciated my craftiness with these pumpkins. He was so impressed he suggested I start an Etsy store. Not quitre sure I'm to that point yet, but it was a sweet thought.

Quarter Century Old

I'm officially 25. I round up to 30. I keep hearing how, "You're a quarter century old" & "A quarter of your life is over." I take issue with both of these statements.

1. Any sentence with the word "century" in it sounds like a history book
2. If a quarter of my life is over you're saying I am going to live to be 100, which would be awesome although highly unrealistic.

25 is an intimidating birthday.

As unexciting as it might be, I did end up enjoying my birthday. Chris went to Amarillo Thursday evening for his interview, leaving me to fly in after work on Friday. Even though I spent my birthday at work and in Dallas alone it was ok since I didn't have to make the horrible 6 hour drive from Dallas to Amarillo. I'll take flying any day.

My flight landed just in time for a wonderful supper at the Amarillo Club. That place holds so many memories for me. It's the first place I met Chris's extended family (at Mitch & Lacey's wedding). It's where I got engaged & it's where we held our wedding reception. We enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal & shut the place down. Seriously, we were the last ones in there.

I got the Michele watch I've been crushing on. I have a feeling it will be one of those "every day essentials" for me. I have the best parents a girl could ask for. For.Real.

The in-laws gift didn't' disappoint either. Anything that comes in a little turquoise box is good in my book.

&&& I love my husband because he remembered the Centinneal Stripe makeup bags I had my eye on at Bendels. He got me 2 pieces for my for my birthday. Just when I think he doesn't listen to me ramble he proves me wrong!

Manic Monday at its Finest

We rolled back into Dallas a little before midnight last night. With it being so late we decided to just leave the Pathfinder at the airport an extra night & leave the house extra early in the morning to pick it up. Chris could take me on his way to work and I'd go to work directly from the airport. Good plan.

Not...

When Chris dropped me off this morning I realized that my keys were in my other purse. That is such a "Chris Jones" move.

So I texted my boss that I will be late, which I absolutely hate doing. I am fairly certain she thought I was fibbing. All I got back was an, "Ok!"

20 minutes later I make it back to the apt, get my keys, and we head back to Love Field. Chris and I decided to switch cars because both of ours were on low fuel, but his had slightly more gas than mine. So I would take the Honda to work. It had just enough gas to get me to work, which was all I cared about it.

We also decided to switch parking garage stubs since I had cash to cover the parking for the Pathfinder & the Honda would be free since we were in the garage for under 20 minutes. (I was in the Honda w/ the Pathfinder's parking stub & he was in the Pathfinder with the Honda's parking stub). I paid my $30 at the gate & headed on to work. Later on I found out that they tried to charge Chris $30 too. They claimed that they operate off of license plates & not the stubs. Ok.. so then why issue the stubs? After debating with the woman, Chris told her he was absolutely not paying another $30. She let him go.

When I finally made it to work (20 minutes late) Chris called to tell me that his house keys were still in the Honda... which is with me. Thankfully he can borrow the spare key from our apartment office.

&&& I love my husband because he can get stuff taken care of (parking stub issue) when necessary.

Fall & Friends

Words cannot express how good it was to have Taylor in Dallas. After my weekend with her I understand how friendships get deeper with age. Yes, we were close in college. Yes, we were in each other's weddings. Yes, we've kept in touch. But we seem to get closer & closer as the years go by. She is such a great friend & I am truly, truly blessed to have her in my life.

She arrived Friday just in time for happy hour/supper at Gloria's. It's a good thing we had a couple margs because we came home to doggie terror. Ollie & Ox had gotten into her suitcase & chewed up her makeup bag (with everything inside). I felt so so so bad. However, the margaritas definitely took the edge off, so we were able to laugh about it.

Saturday we had lunch at La Madeline & shopped Northpark. I took her to get her first Sprinkles cupcake & we did some wedding/baby gifts for mutual friends. I ended up with a couple cute things for myself:

The Juju bootie in black. Ob.Sessed.

& an Olive Green Ruffle Front Sweater::: J Crew

We also managed to get a mani/pedi squeezed in there. It was seriously the best mani/pedi I've ever had. My nails look fab.

Grey Tunic::: Mossimo

Grey & Black Damask Tights::: Forever 21

Tight High Black Cobra Boots::: Jessica Simpson

Black Sunglasses::: Marc Jacobs

Since my dogs were little terrors and ate her makeup (and she is too sweet to even think about letting me replace her damaged product) I took her to supper at Victor Tangos. It was a great night filled with reminiscing, gossiping, catching up on life and just enjoying each other's company.

1 Shoulder Navy Tunic:::: BB Dakota (purchased from The Rack in Canyon)

Jeggings::: Trouve

Chestnut Riding Boots::: Jessica Simpson

Gold Hoop Earrings::: Express

This morning I woke up with a full and happy heart. I spent the weekend with one of my best friends. I got to come home to such a loving husband (& 2 little fur babies). I get to see my family this weekend. AND to top it all off IT OFFICIALLY FEELS LIKE FALL! I am so grateful for everyone in my life, the success we've been given & the contentness I feel

&&& I love my husband because he was such an accommodating host this weekend. He loves Tay just as much as I do.
