Dusty's Dreamin'

This weekend we decided to take a much needed get away to Ruidoso, New Mexico. I love Ruidoso this time of year; horse races, beautiful weather, and good food.

One of my favorite things to do is attend the horse races at Ruidoso Downs. Although I rarely make ANY money, I still enjoy strategizing and betting on the races. This year there was one horse that stood out, Dusty's Dreamin. This horse blew the others out of the water! He was an incredible athlete finishing well before the others in his heat (not sure if that's the right terminology, but it's worth a shot).

Willman's for dinner, Yum.
I finally own a bear!
It seems like having a Monday off from work should make things come easier the rest of the week. This though is wrong, very wrong. Having a 4 day work week just means 5 days of work crammed into 4 days. Not cool!

Vintage Amarillo

This past weekend Chris and I were given the opportunity to attend the Amarillo Symphony Guild's fund raiser, Vintage Amarillo. It's a silent/live auction with wine tasting and dinner. We were so luck to have a table full of Joneses, consisting of David, Ellen, Sam, Liz, Chris, Me, and 2 of David's clients. It was a great time!

Sunday I worked the Amarillo SPCA's fundraiser, Mutt Fest. It also had a silent auction, live music, food, and low cost vaccines for pets. I worked at Timber Creek's booth, taking money and filling out rabies certificates. My dad and I worked very well together, which definitely surprised my mom.

Yesterday was Chris's 24th birthday! Happy Birthday, Hubbs!!! We were absolutely exhausted from everything we've been up to so he opted to get take out and stay in. (No, I am not a terrible awful wife... we went out to PF Chang's last week for his birthday and he was NOT mistreated in the present department).

"The Honeymooners"

Chris is officially a "2L." 1 year of law school down, 2 to go. There is a light at the end of this Dallas chapter in our life.

In other news we decided to join our Engaged/Newly Married kickball team, "The Honeymooners." Bad decision. I discovered quite quickly that I do not know the first thing about kickball. I guess I purposefully tried to get out in elementary school so I wouldn't have to run bases. Lame.

Anyways, we've played 2 games thus far and I have yet to make it to 2nd base or get anyone out. Yesterday, as I was playing 1st base, I managed to get body slammed by an opposing team member. Awesome. Each week I am learning to channel my inner anger and constantly tell myself that it's just a game.

Amarillo by Mornin'

Since Chris has been overwhelmed with law school finals I decided to make a last minute quick trip back to the Panhandle. It was a pretty uneventful weekend, but great to see the fam.

Codi driving... scary

I flew back to Dallas at 6:30 AM on Monday... just in time to make it for work. However, on our way to the airport moms "never fail" BMW tires failed. We got a flat tire about 3 miles from the airport. Dad to the rescue!! I made it to the airport at 6:20 AM, a mere 10 minutes before the flight left. Wouldn't you know the time I'm in a huge rush I got randomly searched. Awesome! As I was running to my gate my flip flop flew off my foot and down the terminal, so I had to chase it down. When I finally got to my gate and boarded my plane I was so rattled I could barely manouver my suitcase (luckily I had planned on carryin on) down the aisle. I managed to bump it into pretty much every person up and down the aisle.

Summerzcool....

The Demeres

This weekend we went to the Jimmy Buffet concert in Frisco. Tooo much fun! Mom, Dad, and Codi were scheduled to fly in at 8:30 on Friday night, but Southwest decided to be fickle and 8:30 turned into 10:30. When they arrived we went to eat at Hector's on Henderson near our apartment. It was delish.
Saturday morning we got an early start, heading to Northpark bright and early. We shopped alllll day long, stopping only for breakfast and lunch. No complaints here, I got some fun stuff.

We headed to Frisco around 5, to join all the other "parrot heads" at the concert. It was a blast. We had seats on the floor, so I spent the majority of the concert on Chris's shoulders :) Jimmy made me have island fever... bad.

Hoppy Easter!

My baby sister is a Canyon High cheerleader... I cannot believe how old she is. For her tryouts this year her friends made "Team Codi" t-shirts and wore them to school the day of. I went back to watch her/visit, since I haven't been back to the Panhandle since Christmas. It was a quick visit, but great to just be at home and relax. It felt like I barely spent any time there during Christmas since we were torn in 8 different directions.

Me and Codi @ tryouts

I felew back to Dallas at 6:30 on Friday morning... just in time to go to work. Boo. Friday night I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at 8. I was tired.

Saturday night was spent catching up with an old friend, Collin. He was in town for Easter, and since his family lives in Southlake we could't go without seeing him.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. We went to church and then to brunch at Cafe de Brazil... best crepes EVER.

On our way to church I had my first near death experience. It was rainy outside and we were running a little late (big surprise). We were on the highest overpass on 635 when my car hydroplaned. We spun in 2 complete circles as Chris tried to regain control of my car. I was sure we were going over the edge. We must have had angels watching over us, because we ended up without a scratch on either of us or my car. For the first time in my life I was completely speechless....

Jonesin' It.

The Joneses arrived in Azle on Thursday... However, Chris and I didn't head over until late Friday afternoon. Friday night we grilled out and played a game, a very typical night with this family.

Saturday the boys had an 8:40 AM tee-time. After the guys headed off to golf Ellen, Liz, and I took Carter shopping for an Easter outfit. We then headed to the mall to shop around and kill some time. Liz and I ended up getting dresses for Vintage Amarillo (The Amarillo Symphony Guild's fundraiser in May).

Later that evening Liz, Eric, Chris and I headed back to Dallas for a fun night out. We had sushi at Kona and then went to some fun little places within walking distance of our apartment. Such a fun night with a great couple.

Sunday the ENTIRE Jones family invaded our Engaged/Newly Married class at church. ha. Sunday afternoon was very uneventful for us... naps, cleaning, and preparing for the week ahead. Oh, and a venture to PF Chang's for some dynamite shrimp :)

I'm heading to Canyon at 8:30 tonight. I am very excited to be at home for a couple days!
